Short Description:

The M.Tuberculosis IgG Rapid Test Kit (Colloidal gold) is used for qualitatively detection of M.Tuberculosis IgG antibodies in human serum. The test is to be used as an aid in the diagnosis of infection with M.TB.

Tuberculosis is a chronic, communicable disease caused principally by M.TB hominis(Koch’s bacillus), occasionally by M.TB bovis. The lungs are the primary target, but any organ may be infected, including the kidney, spine and brain. Not everyone infected with TB bacteria becomes sick. People who have latent TB infection have the TB bacteria in their bodies but are not sick and cannot spread the bacteria to others. Individuals with active TB disease, however, are sick and may also be able to transmit the bacteria to others.

The risk of TB infection has exponentially declined in the 20th century. However, the recent emergence of drug-resistant strains, particularly among patients with AIDS, has rekindled interest in TB. The incidence of infection was reported around 8 million cases per year with a death rate of 3 million per year.

Principle

The TB IgG Rapid Test Kit is a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay. The test cassettes consists of :1) a burgundy colored conjugate pad containing recombinant TB antigen conjugated with colloidal gold; 2) a nitrocellulose membrane strip containing one test line(T line) and a control line(C line).The T line is precoated with the mouse anti-human IgG antibody. The C line is precoated with the anti-mouse IgG antibody. When an adequate volume of test specimen is added into the sample well of the test cassette, the specimen migrated by capillary action across the pre-coated membrane.

The TB IgG antibody if present in the specimen will bind to the M.TB conjugates. The immunocomplex is then captured by the antibody coated in T line, forming a burgundy-colored T line, indicating TB IgG positive test results. To serve as a procedural control, a colored line will always appear at the control line region indicating that proper volume of specimen has been added and membrane wicking has occurred.
