Streptococcus pneumoniae Antigen Test Cassette (Colloidal Gold)

The Streptococcus pneumoniae Antigen Test Cassette (Colloidal Gold) is a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay. The test cassettes consists of :1) a burgundy colored conjugate pad containing anti-Streptococcus pneumoniae monoclonal antibody conjugated with colloidal gold;2) a nitrocellulose membrane strip containing one test line (T line) and a control line (C line). The T line is precoated with anti-Streptococcus pneumoniae monoclonal antibody. The C line is precoated with the goat anti-mouse antibody. When an adequate volume of test specimen is added into the sample well of the test cassette, the specimen migrated by capillary action across the pre-coated membrane.

The Streptococcus pneumoniae Antigen if present in the specimen will bind to the anti-Streptococcus pneumoniae monoclonal antibody conjugates. The immunocomplex is then captured by the antibody coated in T line, forming a burgundy colored T line, indicating Streptococcus pneumoniae antigen positive test results. To serve as a procedural control, a colored line will always appear at the control line region indicating that proper volume of specimen has been added and membrane wicking has occurred.
